These are the original brass plaques that were once mounted aboard the USS Rocky Mount, an Appalachian-class command ship in the US Navy. They have been beautifully mounted on a nice slab of mahogany which measures 18.5″ X 9 1/4 “. From the day she arrived at Pearl Harbor, December  27, 1943, Rocky Mount never left the combat area of the Pacific and came through all of the operations unscathed. She was dubbed “The Rock” and “Veteran Queen of Amphibious Fleets”. She decommissioned and was placed in reserve with the San Francisco Group, Pacific Fleet, on March 22, 1947.
